Іn the past the territory of Ivano-Frankivsk region was a part of historical region of Halychyna, which in the days of King Danylo became one of the most powerful states in Europe – the Halych-Volhynia principality. For a long period Halychyna was part of Austrian-Hungarian Empire and Poland, which caused to a great impact of European cultures on its development.

Галичина - одна з найбільш густозаселених територій України. В краї гармонійно проживають кілька етнографічних груп: бойки, гуцули, покутяни, ополяни, яким притаманні певні відмінності в місцевих говірках, культурі, одязі, побуті.

Halychyna – is one of the most populated areas in Ukraine. Different ethnic groups such as: boiky, hutsuly, opoliany and pokutiany live side by side and still preserve their differences in language, culture, clothes and household.

Real masterpieces of sacral art such as churches, iconostasis, embroidered icons and church banners are preserved in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. The most perfect architectural buildings are an ancient wooden churches.

One of the key factors inflencing to the decision of guests to come to the Carpathian region is a distinctive culture and a rich historical heritage. After all, on the territory of the region there are more than 3,5 thousand monuments. The decorated with carving orthodox wooden Hutsul churches in Kolomyia, Vorokhta, Kryvorivnia, the UNESCO monuments – the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Nyzhnii Verbizh (Kolomyia district), the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit in Rohatyn, the monuments of the National Reserve “An ancient Halych” attract guests.

A unique museum of Easter egg was built in Kolomyia. It exhibits the “pysankarstvo” – an art of Easter egg making vivid, deep and mysterious art, which roots reached to the pre-Christian times.
